GWS captain Toby Greene welcomes first child with partner Georgia Stirton
GWS captain Toby Greene has described his daughter as his “new best friend”. He missed the Giant’s first practice match on Thursday ahead of the birth.
GWS captain Toby Greene and partner Georgia Stirton have welcomed their first child.
The proud new parents posted a short and sweet video of their baby’s little legs with Greene writing “new best friend” and a love heart.
Their little girl arrived on Thursday with Greene missing the Giants’ first practice match against the Swans on Thursday as he prepared for the birth.
Greene and Stirton, a youth worker, revealed they were expecting when they stepped out at the Brownlow Medal last year.
The All-Australian captain said last week that he was still getting his head around the new life development.
“I haven’t thought too much about the season starting to be honest,” Greene said. “It’s more been the lead-up to having the baby.
“Hopefully, it’s a smooth birth and everyone’s happy and healthy and then can start to think a bit more about round one. But I’m sure the boys will be in good stead on Thursday and starting to play our way.
“I’m still getting my head around it. It’s more nerve-racking for Georgia, that’s for sure. But all good to go on Thursday so hopefully it’s all good.”
Greene said he’ll be asking for plenty of advice.
“I’ll be making plenty of phone calls to mum and friends who have had babies and will just go on from there,” Greene said.
“Once it comes I’m sure it’s going to be a big shock to the system... I’m sure Georgia will be super accommodating as well, she’ll be a super good mum.”
Also celebrating baby joy is Melbourne defender Steven May.
May and partner Sachi Dade revealed they are expecting their first child.
“Mini May! Coming soon,’’ the couple wrote with pink love hearts.
May’s teammate Alex Neal-Bullen was also celebrating last week after welcoming daughter Zara with wife Georgie.
“Her mum is incredible and I am so proud to be a girl dad,’’ Neal-Bullen wrote on social media.
