FWAW fans think Farmer Jarrad is a fake

A secret girlfriend, ulterior motives, AND not a real farmer? How does this keep happening?

Farmer Jarrad chooses his next date

It’s official: viewers have worked out which Farmer is this year’s dud!

Every season on Farmer Wants A Wife, one Farmer is exposed for one reason or another as being a bit of a flop - either they have a secret girlfriend, they’re not in it for the right reasons, or they’re not a real farmer.

And, unfortunately, viewers think Farmer Jarrad has all three.

“He should have applied for Australian Idol!”

Farmer Jarrad, the youngest farmer on this year’s season, has quickly become the most controversial, with viewers catching on to the fact that he might not be what he seems.

Much of Jarrad’s arc on the show revolves around the fact that he’s an aspiring country musician, with a number of country music radio stations and blogs sharing the news of his casting back when it was announced.

But, this has led viewers to share concerns that he’s not in it for the right reasons.

“He’s in for his music, not the girls,” said one commenter on Facebook.

“Only on there to get himself known for his music,” said another person.

“He should have applied for Australian Idol! Which farmer has ‘hours’ spare to write bloody songs,” a third agreed.

Allegations that he joined the show solely as a publicity stunt have come along with accusations that he also had a long-time girlfriend when he applied - who was all for the idea.

“Anyone who knows Jarrad knows he would do just about anything to advance his country music career, so when it was suggested that being on FWAW would attract publicity and could set him up for life, he couldn’t turn down such a golden opportunity,” a source told Woman’s Day.

“While there’s plenty of speculation around who the mystery woman is, many in the country music world are aware of her identity, but everyone is remaining very tight-lipped, which is more about protecting her than anything else. One can only assume she won’t be watching!”

The source added that whilst the alleged girlfriend was willing to ‘go along with it’ initially, the idea may have eventually gotten too much, and sent her packing.

“No one can confirm if indeed they’ve officially split or not,” the source added.

Maybe we’ll find out the truth in his next song?

“How can a lady ‘move to the farm’!!”

In addition to this, just as many people have shared frustrations that Jarrad isn’t a farmer at all.

The 22-year-old has been open both on and off the show about the fact that he’s not a farmer in the traditional sense, but rather a part-time farmhand, who aspires to own a farm one day.

In the meantime, it’s been alleged that he’s calling country music legend James Blundell’s farm home base.

“Jarrad knew James from when they performed at one of the many festivals across the country – Jarrad could see James was the real deal and knew the Blundell family had been in the Stanthorpe region for decades – James and his fiancée Rebecca would have convinced Jarrad to go on the show after James’ eldest son Briar considered applying a few years
ago, which he never went ahead with,” a source told Woman’s Day.

For the show’s more traditional fans, this is a huge no-no.

“Jarrad doesn't even have a farm so he shouldn't even be on the show!” said one person on Facebook.

“Jarrad doesn't own a farm, he works from farm to farm, so how can a lady 'move to the farm'!!” another agreed.

But, others said his transparency has been refreshing.

“At least he was honest and said he didn't. He intends to buy one down the track,” said one commenter.

“He has already stated that he is working on different farms to gain experience. Not owning a farm does not make him any less a farmer. That's what he loves, it's his job and his ambition to buy back his grandfather's farm,” another agreed.

Really? Again??

Regardless of Jarrad’s motives, he’s not the first fake farmer to make an appearance on Farmer Wants A Wife, and he certainly won’t be the last.

Reading this, you may be getting flashbacks to Farmer Sam from the 2021 season, who was similarly accused of having a long-term girlfriend during filming, and also of not being a farmer.

Except, in Sam’s case, the latter was true.

After his season wrapped, Sam was forced to come out and confirm that the farm he used was not his, but was rather a ‘family farm’, owned by his brother. He also confirmed that claims he was a truck driver were also true.

“I split my time between the farm and nearby Orange, where I took Mackenzie for our date. My brother and sister-in-law are great people, but you don’t always want to be a third wheel,” he said in a post to Instagram.

“I’m just like every other person out there – sometimes two incomes are needed to pay the bills. I drive trucks as a second income and that’s never been a secret.”

We suppose that to be a farmer, you don’t have to be a farm owner, you could just work on a farm. Part time. And also drive trucks, part time.”

Sam ultimately denied the rumours of a secret girlfriend, and we can only hope that Jarrad says the same - for the sake of the remaining contestants.
