A Woolworths customer has been slammed for leaving a hot roast chook in the freezer section of a Gold Coast store.

A fellow shopper took to Reddit to share a snap of the “annoying” act which showed a roast chook dumped in the freezer aisle instead of the hot food section located at the opposite end of the Woolies store.

“Spotted in Woolies at Robina on the GC,” the shopper wrote.

“Really annoys me. Some lazy shopper couldn’t be bothered to return it to the hot chook section and so just dumped it in the freezer instead.

“Meaning a chicken has died for no reason.”

Reddit users agreed that the discarded chook was “such a waste”.

“Lazy buggers everywhere. I always see things like this and it really p**ses me off. Infuriating,” one person wrote.

“The Woolies hot chook is one of Australia’s truly iconic foods; it should be treated with more respect than this,” said another.

One user who works at “one of the major supermarkets” said they often see “stuff like this”. “The worst is when people leave perishable foods in the regular aisles. Waste of food and really gross,” they said.

“Not the barbecue chook!” another added.

It comes after another shopper was slammed over her “rude” bargain barbecue chicken haul.

The thrifty shopper took to Facebook’s Markdown Addicts Australia page, sharing that she’d purchased seven budget chooks for just $4.40, down from $11.

“No I didn’t buy them all. Yes I left some for others. Yes we eat a lot of chicken. No it won’t go to waste,” she wrote alongside a photo of her haul, referencing previous accusations in the group over shoppers “hogging” discounted goods.

Her post drew hundreds of likes and dozens of comments – and while some accused her of “rude” behaviour by buying so many chickens, other members in the group wrote that she shouldn’t have had to justify her purchase.
