IF YOU love wine, this product might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
A new glass has been created that is contoured to your face and will maximise your drinking experience.
The specially-designed object helps to funnel the wine aromas directly into the nose of the drinker so they can savour the full flavours and smells of the liquid.
The Wine Mask Glass features a rim that snugly fits over your nose, and is designed to aid your enjoyment of the wine.
There are small air holes either side of the glass, called venturi nozzles, which allow you to breathe during the experience.
On the project’s Kickstarter page, inventor James Piatt said: “Wine Glass Mask was designed to focus the bouquet and concentrate the smell of fruits, spices, herbs and flowers while controlling the flow of oxygen.
“As you breathe in you notice an intensified aroma because none of your experience is lost.”
He explained that as red wine breathes wine molecules combine with nitrogen and oxygen in the air, meaning “your wine drinking experience will never be the same.”
James added: “The venturi nozzles on the front of the Wine Glass Mask reduce the flow of oxygen and nitrogen and increase their velocity entering the wine aroma mixing chamber as you breathe in.
“The added air speed lifts more wine vapours off the surface enriching the aroma and flavour.”
James said that he took the measurements of numerous faces and used a 3D modelling software to design the optimal shape for the mask glass.
However he admits that due to the large variety in facial shapes, it may not fit everyone exactly.
The crowd-funding project, which aims to raise $US78,000, is listed as going on until March but has a long way to go to reach its target.
If it raises enough money, the glasses will be sold for $US25 each and delivered as early as June.
