A disgruntled diner has shared a photo of an Aussie pub classic – but many are shocked about what they received.

Reddit user u/OfficialUberZ took to the Brisbane section on the discussion forum site to share a picture of their pub meal.

The meal included a chicken parmigiana, which many asserted looked like it had been covered in plastic cheese, chips and a salad that featured shaved carrot and beetroot.

“If you needed proof that the world was going to sh*t, I just paid $24 for this, guess what it is,” the social media user captioned the image.

“Plastic cheese on a parmi,” one social media user guessed, before the original poster confirmed that was what they had received.

Social media users were outraged by the dish, which the original poster revealed had been purchased from a sports club.

“I hope you sent it back,” one social media user commented on the thread.

Another commented: “Send it back, ask them to remove the plastic bag.”

“Holy sh*t, I thought it was a sandwich inside of a plastic wrap and we were supposed to guess what was inside! I didn’t realise that is the food,” another commented on the viral post.

One social media user said using plastic cheese on anything was a “crime” but others argued it had a time and place – a parmigiana just wasn’t one of them.

But, it wasn’t the only part of the meal that social media users were left infuriated with.

“Those chips are criminal! They somehow look both over and under cooked. I specifically order meals at the pub that come with chips. I’d be livid,” one social media user said.

Another added: “The chips and salad don’t look much better.”

Others compared them to frozen chips purchased at supermarkets such as Coles.

However, the original poster said he had no issue with the chips because they look similar to the ones they cook at home.
