Melbourne Food and Wine’s first winter edition has been postponed until spring.

Current Covid-19 restrictions led organisers to move the 10-day event, scheduled for late August, to the first week of October.

Food and Drink Victoria chief executive Anthea Loucas Bosha said the current restrictions did not allow MFWF to run the event in its intended format.

“While we are naturally disappointed, we look forward to celebrating the very best this city has to offer with a program of more than 150 events across ten days in October around Melbourne, including our new festival hub at the Queen Victoria Market,” Loucas Bosha said.

Drawcard events Remixed Grill, Welcome to the Jungle and The Big Spaghetti are expected to return in October.

The festival will work through the ticketing, including refunds, with guests and partners in the coming weeks.

The MFWF Winter Edition is one of three major food and wine events planned for 2021, after Covid-19 cancelled the 2020 event.

The MFWF Winter Edition will run between 1-10 October.
