McDonald’s brings back Big Mac ‘secret sauce’ bottles for charity

It caused an absolute frenzy when it hit stores last year, selling out nationwide within 72 hours. Now the fan favourite is back.

Attention all Macca’s fans because today is your lucky day.

The secret behind one of the fast food chain’s most popular item — the Big Mac — is back in stores, but you better get in quick.

McDonald’s has 144,000 bottles of Big Mac Special Sauce for sale in participating restaurants across Australia.

Available for $12 a bottle, all profits will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities in support of McHappy Day.

“We know that Big Mac Special Sauce has a loyal following, and we’re excited to bring back bottles of this Aussie favourite for our customers for a limited time,” McDonald’s Australia marketing director Jo Feeny said.

“Pick up your bottle in restaurants around the country in the lead up to McHappy Day.”

In addition to the bottles, $2 from every Big Mac sold on Saturday November 16 will go directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Also on sale to support McHappy Day are silly socks for $5, Helping Hands priced between $2-$50 or you can make a gold coin donation via the McHappy Day Bucket Brigades.

Ronald McDonald House Charities helps families with seriously ill children by providing accommodation while they undergo treatment.

Since it was founded in 1991 McHappy Day has raised more than $46 million for Australian families.

While McDonald’s lists the ingredients in its Big Mac sauce it doesn’t provide the quantities used, hence why the product is so in demand when sold through stores.

Previous limited runs sells of Big Mac sauce have sold out in hours, with people even going online to eBay to try and get their hands on the sauce.

Last year Macca’s held a charity auction on eBay, encouraging people to bid for three bottles of the delicious sauce in a limited edition mini fridge to celebrate 50 years of the Big Mac.
