American fast food giant Chuck E. Cheese has announced its plans to expand to Australia, with trampolines, dance floors and climbing walls peppering the beloved restaurants.

The iconic pizza and wings joint is adored for its arcade-style games, kid-friendly food and birthday parties and, of course, the giant mouse mascot that gives it its name.

The US menu features cheesy pizzas, barbecue wings and birthday cake, as well as a new “grown up” menu with more adult-friendly offerings.

Chuck E. Cheese announced this month it had signed a partnership with Royale Hospitality Group, the Aussie company behind hospo ventures including Milky Lane, Planet Royale and Outback Jacks.

Royale Hospitality is reportedly “actively scouting” locations in Australia.

The Australian franchises will include “trampolines, video walls, and dance floors, along with climbing and soft play elements found in many of (Chuck E. Cheese’s) international locations”, a spokesperson said.

The restaurant chain calls itself America’s go-to location for kids’ birthday parties, hosting half a million birthdays each year in its 600 locations spread across 16 countries.

COO of Chuck E. Cheese International Mario Centola called it a “powerful global brand … centred around the timeless essence of family fun”.

“We are thrilled to bring the magic of Chuck E. Cheese to Australia and to collaborate with the Royale Hospitality Group, a partner that shares our commitment to delivering exceptional family experiences,” he said.

Royale Hospitality managing director Ray Strauss said the partnership was a “momentous step towards establishing Chuck E. Cheese as the premier destination for families seeking an unparalleled kid-centric entertainment and dining experience”.

“I am thrilled, along with my dedicated team, to embark on this exciting journey, taking Chuck E. Cheese to the next level throughout all of Australia,” he said.
