Taste food experts figured out how to make that elusive afternoon sweet snack – a Mars bar slice – in the office of all places.
You can also make it at home for a quick and easy dessert hit.
What is a Mars bar slice?
Made with one of the world’s most popular chocolate bars, the Mars bar slice is essentially a melted Mars bar, mixed with rice bubbles, and butter with extra melted chocolate on top, then splayed out in a tray to chill in the fridge and form into a slice.
No bake, no fuss, max taste. It’s crunchy and it’s caramel-y, chunky and more-ish.
How do you make a Mars bar slice?
Well, if you’re going off slim office pickings, like we did, it can involve some fairly relaxed measurements.
Here’s our step-by-step office Mars bar slice recipe.
As a rough guide, Taste used what was ‘lying around’ in the office – so two Mars bars, about a cup of Kellogg’s rice bubbles, about one and a half tablespoons of butter, and some Cadbury milk chocolate for melting over the top.
Taste packed it all into the base of a tupperware container, and set it in the fridge for an hour. Once set, we cut it up and enjoyed it with a cuppa. Goodbye afternoon slump.
And a tip from one of Taste’s in-office Mars bar-makers, Julia: “The Mars bar might take a while to melt into a smooth consistency, so just be patient when microwaving it. Make sure to stir in 30 second intervals.”
