How do the new Shapes compare to their beloved predecessors?

LUNCH box legend, Arnott’s Shapes, has had a flavour makeover, but how do the new flavours compare to their beloved predecessors?

Shapes Taste Test

IT WAS the news that shocked the nation. Arnott’s Shapes, a lunch box classic for more than 40 years, had a full-flavour makeover — and according to the public, things aren’t great.

In fact, the terms “terrible,” “revolting,” “rip-offs” and “hate-crime” were being bandied around and social media groaned under the weight of comments.

To get to the truth of the matter, the news.com.au team put their hearts, and tastebuds, on the line.

The flavour shake-up is an effort to improve the brand’s health star rating, and to help the seasoning stick to the biscuit.

Call me crazy, but half the fun of Shapes was downing the flavour at the bottom of the packet. I remember competing with fellow classmates at recess about who could eat the most flavour sprinkles in the shortest time. Was this the best use of our time? Probably not, but they were innocent days — anyway, I do digress.

The only original (read: beloved) flavours that will remain unchanged are Barbecue, Chicken Crimpy and Savoury. All other flavours have been tweaked (yes, this includes Pizza sadly).

But how do the new and old flavours really compare?
