From cafes slinging ice-cold long blacks, a restaurant window seat from which to slurp seafood linguine and the ultimate village grocer, here are the best places to eat and drink in Elwood — according to Park Street Pasta & Wine head chef Angus Cadden.
MR TUPPY
This is my favourite cafe in Melbourne. I have been going here every day for four years and sometimes, multiple times a day. Kim makes a killer coffee, my go-to is an iced long black. Chef Dan has a really interesting menu and if you’re after a quick bite, try the pork brick benedict.

ZANINI PIZZERIA & CUCINA
The team respects old Italian traditions and has the best wood-fired pizza, which goes down perfectly with a cold beer. The classics are a winner — order a margherita pizza and a red peroni. Look out for the “cheap night Tuesdays” which are great for families, or if you’re after a quick
dinner after work.

JERRY’S MILK BAR
Jerry’s is the perfect spot for a morning coffee or weekend brunch with friends. My favourite is the meatball sub, hearty and fulfilling, perfect for the winter months. The smell of fresh Inglewood coffee, pides and toasties permeate throughout the space as you walk in, with the sound of locals chatting with the friendly staff.

THE LEAF STORE
Leaf is the local village grocer and has all your pantry staples, fresh organic produce and local artisan products. You’ll be inspired to cook something new. Everything in the store is neatly curated, and you’ll also find recipe cards in the fruit and veg section for a personal touch. The staff are also very accommodating.

SONS OF MARY
I enjoy going to Sons of Mary on a sunny day, when I can sit in the window and unwind.
I order the same thing every time — the seafood linguine, which is one of my favourite pasta dishes in Melbourne. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon enjoying beer and flat breads.
14 Spink St, Brighton
GARAGE WINE STORE
The shop has a range of local and overseas wines, beers, ciders and spirits, and if you’re keen to sit in, they also serve wine by the glass. I enjoy coming here for a vino on a day off. I do love a cold chardonnay here because I’m only human.
