The delicious. 100 rounded up 20 of the country’s favourite foods, highlighting five exceptional offerings in every category – then we asked you to pick the overall winner in the 2023 delicious. 100.
The tally has been counted, with 50,000 votes coming in from across the country.
So here are the top burgers you voted for in every state.
From a range of tastes in Tassie to old favourites in South Australia, these are the nation’s best burgers as voted by you.
In NSW Paul’s Famous Hamburgers was named the best of the best.
Before there was Macca’s, there was Paul’s Famous Hamburgers, which opened on the outskirts of Sydney in 1957.
Just don’t expect wagyu patties or brioche buns. These are old- school Aussie burgers through and through.
In Victoria Andrew’s Hamburgers took top honours.
Albert Park’s family-run business has been flipping patties since 1939, and is now led by Greg Pappas, the nephew of founder Andrew Georghiou.
In Queensland Ben’s Burgers claimed top spot, with this long-time Fortitude Valley favourite keeping things simple with three burgers – all on brioche buns.
The Classic is grass-fed beef with cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mustard and mayo.
The Cheesy ditches the salad for a special sauce, while The Veg is mushroom with parmesan and Swiss cheeses and aioli.
Meanwhile in South Australia Bread & Bone was voted the best of the best.
The city hotspot almost needs a separate burger category, as the wood grill used to cook the patties gives it an unfair advantage.
And in Tasmania The Winston proved unbeatable.
The ‘secret sauce’ is the answer to it great burger and The Winston has mastered a perfect recipe.
The OG Winston takes things to new burger heights: grilled spicy chicken with deep fried bacon and ranch dressing between Belgian waffles.
