The biggest cultural festival in the world has landed in Sydney and it has been a smash hit. Originally started in Austin, Texas, South by Southwest (SXSW for short) has grown into a must-attend week for all manner of creatives with film screenings, concerts, conferences and talks held throughout a week of big ideas and even bigger nights. It’s a rite of passage for anyone interested in pop culture in America and the first edition in the southern hemisphere, SXSW Sydney, has been fully embraced by thousands of attendees across the week.
Guests witnessed incredible talks from the preeminent creatives in the world, like Nicole Kidman, Chance the Rapper, Black Mirror founder Charlie Brooker and Slack co-founder Cal Henderson. There have been screenings of must-see films like David Byrne’s Stop Making Sense concert film and some hotly-anticipated premieres like Jacob Elordi's Saltburn and Bottoms. Late into the evenings, Sydney has been treated to performances from hundreds of showstopping musicians too.
With such a smorgasbord of creativity and cool shit going down, it’s no surprise that some of Australia’s most stylish people have been spotted hitting the streets. Whether at Darling Harbour where many of the events are being held during the day or at venues across the city for countless after-parties, Sydney has represented on the style front in a big way.
