An Aussie fashion designer has revealed why she was filled with nerves when she stepped out wearing a see-through dress.

Known as Tamanna, the Australian who runs fashion labels Made U Look and Tamanna the Label, shared a video of herself wearing a sheer, nude dress through the streets of Sydney.

The diamante covered dress, which had full length sleeves and fell to her ankles flashed the nude bodysuit underneath.

A clip, posted to TikTok, showed people complimenting Tamanna on the outfit.

“You look so hot babe,” one person told her.

Another said: “You look amazing. You’re like a goddess”.

“Holy moley,” one declared.

One social media user got down on their hands and knees at a nightclub to bow down to her.

Tamanna, 32, got the idea for a sheer nude dress after picking up black fabric for an outfit she was making for a Doja Cat-themed birthday.

“As soon as I received the fabric, I saw that it was so sparkly that it reminded me of Rihanna’s iconic CFDA dress where she was dripping in Swarovski crystals,” Tamanna told news.com.au.

She said she immediately contacted the supplier so she could do a nude version of the bodycon dress. As soon as she made the dress she wanted to make content that “captured its essence”.

However she was still nervous to wear it in public. She said Australia’s tall poppy syndrome can mean people don’t like it when you act like you’re special — and so going out and creating content can be “nerve-racking”. Even though she has done it countless times she sais she was worried people would judge her.

The plan was to go into Sydney’s CBD to shoot content of the dress.

“As we were moving from location to location, I realised random girls on the street would just stop and cheer for the dress,” Tamanna said.

“They would want to take photos and ask me where I got it from and they would get so excited when I told them I made it. As a designer – I can’t put into words how it made me feel to get a reaction like this over something I created.

“I told my partner to just keep the camera rolling so we could record the reactions because I couldn’t believe what was happening. It felt (like an out of) body (experience) to me.”

She said the experience was “magical”.

Tamanna shared the clip to social media with the reactions.

“It’s a beautiful dress but could be classier if it wasn’t see through at the back,” one said.

Another added: “I love girls supporting girls so much”.

“This support would never happen in Germany,” one added.

Tamanna said the positive support showed that female validation was “elite”. But, it didn’t mean she didn’t see the trolls.

“A few thousand men were very passionate about letting me know that I was an attention seeker, that I was paying the people on the street to react to my dress like that – and my favourite ‘you’re only getting attention because you have your bum out’,” she said.

“It’s giving jealousy.

“In all honesty, the salty men online who frequent my comment section actually fuel me to work harder on my brands. I feel like every time they see me owning my body and being celebrated for it by other women, they try to bring me down a notch by leaving the most heinous comments.”

The dress also inspired Tamanna to create a brand new label - Made U Look. She said the video, and the dress, inspired her to keep creating sparkly looks that would turns heads.

“After I launched the brand, it seemed that girls from every corner of the globe wanted this dress for themselves,” she said.

“I ended up making more dresses than I could have ever imagined. I’ve had orders come in from every inch of the globe – USA, Denmark, South Korea, UK, Canada, New Zealand UAE, Poland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Sweden and of course here in Australia.

“I even had the opportunity to dress queen of Australia Abbie Chatfield in a Made U Look design which was truly a pinch me moment!

“Launching the dress has truly changed my life but more importantly, it warms my heart knowing there are people out there lighting up their own cities in my creation.”
