Melbourne’s most famous WAGs stepped out to celebrate the launch of two new fashion collections on Thursday.

Rebecca Judd, Nadia Bartel, Olympia Valance and Abbey Gelmi dressed up to mark the launch of their friends’ newest fashion and footwear lines at glitzy LOTI restaurant in St Kilda.

The wives and girlfriends of some of Australia’s biggest NRL and AFL stars all dressed head to toe in new items from both shoe designer Lana Wilkinson and fashion creator Rebecca Vallance at the intimate event.

Nadia Bartel wore the “Joan knit dress”, worth $599, with a racy cut-out on the side that featured the daring “G-string” trend celebrities have been rocking recently.

The throwback ’90s style makes it appear as if the wearer’s underwear is visible, though in Nadia’s case the “string” is a modern gold metal chain.

Best friend Bec, who is married to former West Coast Eagles and Carlton Football Club captain Chris Judd, wore the $949 “Ronnie” one-shouldered gown from the fashion designer.

The flowy dress also featured a small cut-out at the waist and was made from a sparkling fabric that shimmered in snaps.

Abbey Gelmi, who recently announced she and AFL star Kane Lambert are expecting their first child together, wore a pattered $699 skirt with a chic black top to the event. She also had the matching tailored “Denevue” jacket – that retails for $1199 – draped over her shoulders.

The Channel 7 sports presenter wrote on Instagram she was delighted to be celebrating “two powerhouse women I’m lucky to call friends”.

Olympia Vallance, married to AFL footballer Tom Bellchambers, wore the “Marsha knit midi dress” – a striped brown number that costs $699.

All the women wore different heels from celebrity stylist Lana Wilkinson who launched her own shoe brand in 2019.

The new Spring/Summer 22 line includes an array of “comfortable” heels in different styles, all priced at $229.95.

Nadia wore the “Ella”, a white stiletto heel, while Bec opted for the trendy transparent “Beth” heel.

Lana told news.com.au she drew inspiration from the ’90s to help encourage people to embrace life post-Covid.

“This collection is a node to the ’90s with pops of colour and gorgeous shapes,” she said.

“White heels with gorgeous rope detailing, perspex wedges, gold high heels … party season is back and it’s time to go all out and elevate your look with a pair of high heels.”

Rebecca explained her collection “uses strong silhouettes and designs from the swinging ’60s”.

“Metallic yarn, crochet knits, double-breasted suits, oversized bows and extreme puffed sleeves – this collection has the spirit of the liberation for women in the 1960s,” she told news.com.au.

Nostalgic fashion has been making a comeback in recent months, with Lara Worthington and Erin Nolan both notably embracing the “G-string” trend like Nadia Bartel has.

Lara stepped out in pants with the racy detailing during an outing to Bondi in March 2021, while Erin posed on the front cover of Stellar in a black dress from AYA Muse that embraced the trend.
