Hailey Bieber has broken her silence on one of the greatest fashion mysteries ever.

Sadly, because most famous people now hire stylists, there aren’t that many fashion crimes left to solve.

Yes, we still have Guy Sebastian and his unhealthy obsession with fedoras, and we have The Veronicas refusing to change their style since 2004 and always looking like they are still very active on MySpace – but that is about it.

Yet there’s one man who has continued to confuse and bemuse throughout 2023: Justin Bieber.

The Biebers got married in 2018. We like to know what they are doing, what they are wearing, and what they say about each other.

We also need clarification about why they look like they are going to entirely different events when they step out together.

Hailey always looks glamorous and stylish, and Justin looks like a university student who has just discovered dumpster diving.

She’ll be in a tight little dress, and he’ll be dressed like someone going to the grocery store in the height of the pandemic.

It is confusing, alarming and entertaining.

Justin’s outfits look so awful in comparsion to Hailey’s that it is verging on comical.

The couple have never commented on how mismatched they are, but finally, Hailey has said something, and sadly, it leaves more questions than answers.

Hailey told GQ Hype she understands they look like they dress like they are from “two separate planets” but still finds it amusing that people comment on it.

“He may want to wear baggy sweats to dinner, and I might want to wear a tiny little dress just because that’s how I’m feeling. We can’t sit there and be like, ‘So I’m going to wear this, and you’re going to wear this,” she said.

It is a statement that almost makes sense.

Yes, it is expected that neither try and police what the other wears. However, if you know you’re going to the same place, usually there’s a standard of dress.

For instance, a nice dinner usually means you pop on a shirt with buttons, but a trip to the grocery store means you can dress feral if you want to.

I’m not sure what event Justin’s brown Teddy bear-inspired outfit is best for, but probably not the best look when your wife is rocking a black mini-dress.

Justin looks like he is attempting to be a furry — those people who dress up as animals for fun.

Meanwhile Hailey looks like she’s auditioning to land a Vogue cover.

Ultimately, it doesn’t seem like Hailey cares that Justin dresses more like her little brother than her love interest.

Yet the fashion case remains open because the real question hasn’t been answered yet. Why on earth does Justin want to dress like that?
