An Australian designer has taken this year’s Spring Racing by storm, with countless attendees being spotted in her stunning gowns every weekend.
Rebecca Vallance is the mastermind behind some of the most popular dresses being worn at both Royal Randwick and Flemington racecourses, as women around the country slip into her latest collection, dubbed the “epitome occasion dressing”.
Some of our most famous star’s have also been pictured wearing designs from the popular womenswear brand trackside, including Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, Candice Warner and Kate Waterhouse.
Most recently, the KIIS FM host opted for the $799 “Shiloh Halter Midi Dress” at the Caulfield Cup, while Candice Warner wore the brand’s “Versailles Mini Dress”, which retails for $749, to the Sydney Everest Carnival Long Lunch.
Vallance told news.com.au she had created her recent pieces with versatility in mind, adding she “never takes for granted” the impact it can have when “people choose to invest in our designs”.
“Our focus has always been on our customer, to provide premium, beautifully crafted garments suitable for a wide range of occasions,” she said.
“The pieces exude glamour and sophistication which can be styled for various events but are perfectly suited for the Spring Racing Carnival’s race days.
“But I’ll never take for granted the feeling I get when people choose to invest in our designs. The sense of awe still washes over me when I spot celebrities wearing our designs.”
After Henderson wore the halterneck gown, featuring a blue pattern with a front cutout and bow details, the “alluring” dress started flying off shelves, Vallance revealed.
“Jackie O wearing the elegant style garnered substantial attention, rapidly turning it into one of our bestsellers,” she explained.
“This dress, just introduced online and in our stores, embodies the timeless Rebecca Vallance charm, offering a romantic and playful twist on the perfect race day attire.
“We loved seeing Jackie O in this.”
The designer herself however, recommends “a timeless 7/8 midi dress” for the races, stating everyday women had been loving the “Rochelle Sleeveless Midi dress”, a soft pink number with popular side pockets and a detailed neckline.
Of course, it’s not just the races where the designer has featured heavily, as the brand is loved by international singer Meghan Trainor, socialite Paris Hilton and Hollywood actress Kate Beckinsale.
“Most recently, Chrissy Teigan wore our Chloe Bow Mini, which shows these styles continued to be loved internationally,” Vallance said.
“It showcases a figure-flattering A-line shape, a fitted bodice, and voluminous puff sleeves — a representation of the quintessential Rebecca Vallance aesthetic, effortlessly cool and undone.
“With the recent relaxation of the Victoria Racing Club’s dress code, permitting dresses with tasteful cut-outs, we anticipate that this style will emerge as the standout piece of our collection.”
Best Melbourne Cup fashion tips
Vallance, who launched her namesake fashion label in 2011, said the best outfit at the races was one “built upon your own personal style”.
“You want to make sure you are having fun with fashion, whilst also feeling your best self,” the fashion guru shared.
“Melbourne Cup Day is all about embracing bold and vibrant colours, allowing for more creativity and uniqueness in your outfit.
“Also, make sure you drink water throughout the day and apply fresh lipstick.”
