$25 Kmart dress ‘perfect’ for Xmas Day sparks shopper frenzy

You need an outfit that is: a) festive, b) comfortable, c) appropriate for family gatherings, and d) allows plenty of room for eating.
This is where Kmart’s new strapless red dress comes in, which shoppers are quickly dubbing the “perfect” Christmas Day dress.
The dress, officially called the Sleeveless Strapless Knit Woven Midi Dress, retails for just $25 and is available in sizes six to 20.
Not only does it meet all the essential criteria for a Christmas Day outfit, but Kmart has also added pockets, making it every woman’s dream, year round!
Made from a blend of cotton and elastane, the dress features a strapless design, ribbed fabric, and gather detailing at the waist.
Some shoppers online have compared it to similar dresses from popular brands like Seed Heritage, Dissh and Odd Muse, which cost upwards of $200.
Instagram fashion blogger Kmart Insider praised the dress, saying it’s comparable to the $199.95 Core Linen Strapless Maxi Dress from Seed Heritage.
“Let’s celebrate because this Kmart dress is just $25!” she captioned a collage comparing the two dresses side-by-side.
She also suggested pairing the dress with other affordable accessories from Kmart, including $12 strappy gold sandals, gold flower earrings for $4, and a black handbag for $15.
“The price difference!” one shopper exclaimed in the comments.
“The perfect Christmas Day dress!” another user praised.
One happy customer even commented, “I wore mine today and got so many compliments!”
The dress has also been compared to the Riley Cream Strapless Cotton Dress, which retails for $169.99 from Dissh.
TikToker @melissatravels25 compared it to the Ultimate Muse Strapless Midi Dress from Odd Muse, priced at $300.
While in the store, she filmed herself showcasing the dress, which also comes in black.
“Hurry to Kmart for this stunning dress! It’s perfect for the festive season!” she urged her followers, who were equally impressed.
“So pretty,” said one. “Love these,” wrote another.
Fashion blogger Chelsea Williamson shared her thoughts on the dress with her 130,000 followers in a video that amassed over 50,000 views.
Currently pregnant, she showcased the dress while cradling her baby bump in its comfortable and flowy skirt.
“I think we just found a Christmas Day Kmart slay,” she declared. “So good, especially during pregnancy.”
The comments included “gorgeous,” “incredible,” and “so pretty!”
Melbourne fashion creator Tegan Jean also highlighted the dress’s practical details.
“It sits well,” she noted, showing the rubber strip at the top of the dress that helps keep it in place. “I don’t feel like it’s going to slip down.”
The dress’s popularity didn’t stop there. Lisa Galanopoulous showcased different ways to style the basic dress.
In her clip, she paired it with a $10 festive shirt that said “joyful,” and in another, she wore a Christmas pink sweater over the top, tucking it in to create a cropped look.
Another content creator, @funstylingwith_nic, purchased the dress and shared a styling video, calling it “such a bargain.”
“When I saw this, I thought ‘Christmas’,” she said.
Initially hesitant to buy the strapless number because she doesn’t like exposing her arms, she ended up loving it and decided to experiment with various styling options.
She paired it with a longline patterned duster that still showcased the dress’s silhouette underneath, while also covering her arms.
She also tried it with a frilly pink linen duster and wore a linen white blouse tied under her bust for another look.
It’s clear that fashion lovers have really enjoyed styling the dress, because yet another creator, @stylingwithzee, shared her fashion-forward look on TikTok.
She paired the dress with red stilettos, a silver belt, and a collared white blouse under the dress for a sophisticated touch.
She completed the outfit with a sleek low ponytail, chunky earrings, and a beige clutch.
Mum-of-two @rose_in_style, who shares her daily outfits, showcased a more formal styling option.
She matched the dress with silver slingback pumps, chunky silver hoops, and a co-ordinating silver bag.
“At just $25, this dress is not only affordable but also effortlessly chic,” she said.
“The flattering silhouette and bold red hue will have you shining bright at any event.”
Some shoppers have reported that the dress has sold out in their local stores due to all the hype, leading many to scramble to find one.
However, the item is still available online, with all sizes currently in stock.
