Thousands of people are about to roll up to Melbourne’s biggest caravanning and camping show to check out the latest and greatest touring technology and innovations — here’s what to expect.

From seasoned caravanners and campers to first-timers considering a road trip, thousands will flock to the Melbourne Showgrounds this month for the 2020 Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow.

Now in its 66th year, this year’s show will be bigger than ever, with exhibitors showcasing the latest in caravan, motorhome and camping innovations.

Experts will also be on hand to help map out your dream on-the-road holiday.

WHEN IS THE 2020 VICTORIAN CARAVAN, CAMPING AND TOURING SUPERSHOW?

This year’s Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow runs from Thursday, February 20, to Monday, February 24.

It is open from 9.30am until 6pm every day except Monday, which finishes at 4pm.

WHAT’S ON AT THE 2020 VICTORIAN CARAVAN, CAMPING AND TOURING SUPERSHOW?

Whether you’re new to the outdoor adventure lifestyle or a seasoned road tripper, there’s an expansive range of events and exhibitions worth checking out.

AL-KO INNOVATION HUB

If you’re keen to see where the future of the caravan industry is heading, look for the AL-KO Innovation Hub at the showgrounds’ new RACV Pavilion, which will feature the latest innovative products to come from the caravan, camping and RV industries.

LIVE CARAVAN WEIGHT AND TOWING DEMONSTRATIONS

Informative with free demonstrations, this exhibit serves as an important reminder to drive safely with camping equipment.

Visitors will be able to get advice from Hayman Reese’s technical towing experts, Gary Gardiner and Craig Smith, who will demonstrate their weights masterclass in addition to their towing tips and hints.

LIVE MUSIC

Visitors will be able to take in live performances from talented local buskers, with entertainment from the Jazz Jokers, Nathan Power, James Robinson, Luke Owens, Matthew Alford, Madelena Music, Matty and Char, and Jake Finnigan.

PLAYFUL POOCHES

Not only are dogs often travel companions for extended road trips, they’re also welcome to attend the Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow.

For those planning to travel with pets, make a pit stop at the BMPRO Camp Ground and check out the Paw Patch Exhibit.

There you’ll find Lara Shannon and her dog, Darcy, from Channel 10’s Pooches at Play, who will share the best tips for travelling safely with pooches.

REPTILE AWARENESS

Interacting with reptiles can be part and parcel of the caravanning and camping experience.

For this reason, reptile specialist Allan Burnett, of Reptile Awareness Displays of Australia, will be on hand to provide information and advice about dealing with reptiles in the wild. There will also be an interactive demonstration.

KIDS’ ENTERTAINMENT

Families and children are well catered for at the Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow.

Head down to the BMPRO Camp Ground for laser tag entertainment and a Wipe Out jumping castle course from Thursday to Sunday.

VINTAGE VANS

The Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow will also play host to an extensive vintage van collection, perfect for any vehicle enthusiast or lover of all things retro.

The vehicles are situated near Gate 8 and will be showcased from Friday to Monday.

3AW LIVE BROADCAST

Visitors can watch the radio statin’s broadcast live on the BMPRO Camp Ground on Friday, 12-3pm, Saturday noon-5pm and Sunday morning.

A range of experts will be interviewed over the course of the exhibition, with meet and greets available in between recordings.

Note: Dogs are welcome to attend with their owners. However, no animals besides pet dogs and guide/companion animals required for persons with disabilities and as certified by law are permitted within the event grounds at any time.

HOW TO GET TO THE 2020 VICTORIAN CARAVAN, CAMPING AND TOURING SUPERSHOW

Located at Flemington’s Melbourne Showgrounds, there are several transport options.

Parking

If driving, on-site carparking is available for $10 per day (cash/EFT).

For those requiring disabled access, dedicated parking spaces are available through Gate 5 off Langs Road.

A shuttle bus will run between the car parks and showgrounds.

Public transport:

For those planning to use public transport, there’s a number of bus, tram and train services that can get you to the showgrounds. You can plan your journey through Public Transport Victoria’s Journey Planner.

Bus:

Bus No 472 (Williamstown to Moonee Ponds) stops along Langs Road and Epsom Road. Bus No 404 (Footscray to Moonee Ponds) stops on the corner of Epsom and Ascot Vale Road.

Tram:

Route 57 from Elizabeth St/Flinders Street (Stop 1) to Melbourne Showgrounds / Epsom Road (Stop 33). Passenger are advised to alight from Stop 32 (Epsom Road / Sandown Road – opposite Coles Supermarket) and walk approximately 200 meters to Showgrounds entrance.

Train:

Melbourne Showgrounds has its own train station. Trains will be running from Southern Cross Station and Flinders Street station. This year trains will be running on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Friday trains run from 9:15am until 3:15pm (Last train to depart Showgrounds at 3:30pm). Saturday trains run from 9:15am until 6:15pm (Last train to depart Showgrounds at 6:30pm). Sunday trains run from 9:15am until 6:15pm (Last train to depart Showgrounds at 6:30pm). Subject to change.
