It’s a sight to give vegans the meat sweats.
Port Melbourne café The Third Wave is calling all carnivores brave – and hungry – enough to tackle its latest marvellously meaty creation.
For when it comes to dinner size matters, the meat rod is protein piled on protein piled on a chicken.
On a mac-and-cheese pancake you’ll find cornbread waffles, pork belly, smoked brisket, three kransky sausages, a whole roast chicken, a double royale burger all topped with an “oink ball” – a minced pork ball wrapped in bacon and smoked.
Owner Greg Rips said the café had a tradition of creating an over-the-top menu item each month.
Containing more than four kilos of meat and served on a specially designed custom-built board, the meat rod is already a hit with those who have still not made friends with salad.
“We’ve already sold a few, we expect to serve a couple of hundred through the month.”
At $129.90, Rips said the carnivorous creation would feed six people easily, or “four very hungry, very big guys”.
“It’s a good deal for a dinner with everything,” he said.
