Aussie tourists planning on taking a trip to Bali will soon be able to avoid entering hotel quarantine.
In what has been described as a “trial”, vaccinated visitors from around the world won’t have to enter hotel quarantine upon arrival and, according to local media, the Visa On Arrival program will make a return.
From March 14, which is also when Jetstar will restart direct flights to Denpasar, those who have received a full vaccination will only be required to do a PCR test upon entry. Once a negative result is produced, they will be “free” to go out and explore rather than stay isolated in a hotel room.
Bali reopened its border to foreign travellers on February 4, but with quarantine requirements in place. This meant fully vaccinated travellers — including a booster — were forced into quarantine for at least three days.
Anyone else entering, who may not have a vaccination at all, will be required to quarantine for seven days and take a PCR test no longer than 48 hours before departure, one on arrival and one on day three of their quarantine.
But for Aussies to avoid quarantine, there is a big catch.
A hotel and proof of at least four nights booking will need to be shown upon entry. Tourists will also need to show proof they have received a full vaccine against Covid-19.
Vaccinated travellers will also need to take a PCR test upon arrival, and waiting in their hotel room until they receive their negative result (which is generally less than 24 hours).
A PCR test will also need be taken on day three after their arrival.
