ALDI's Bluey chairs are selling for triple the price

If you missed out on grabbing one of the viral ALDI Bluey chairs last week, you might be in luck - depending on how much cash you're prepared to drop on it.

The real-life places that brig Bluey to life

Did you miss out on getting your hands on the Bluey Plush Chair at ALDI? Don’t worry! There might be a way for you to buy it - if you have a spare $200 to spend.

After going completely viral upon release in the UK, selling out almost instantly, there’s no surprise that they flew out of the middle aisle just as quickly when they hit Australian stores last week.

But, it seems Bluey fans weren’t necessarily the ones lined up - with resellers now flooding sites like eBay with chairs for over triple the original price.

The famous Bluey Plush Chairs

Aussie Bluey fans were thrilled when it was announced that a tonne of Bluey merch would be hitting the middle aisle last Wednesday, March 26, as part of their first ever Special Buys range dedicated to the world’s favourite blue heeler.

The range started from just $7.99, with items like books, toys, quilt cover sets, and pyjamas.

But, the item on everyone’s lips was the Bluey Plush Chair, retailing for $39.99.

The chair first launched in the UK last year and went completely viral on TikTok, selling out within minutes of stores opening.

Aussie shoppers were hoping that stores here would be more stocked, allowing for everyone who wanted a chair to get their hands on one. And, whilst many fans did manage to nab one, not everyone was as lucky, with many chairs instead falling into the hands of resellers.

They're how much?!

We’ve all heard the stories of Woolies and Coles collectibles selling on sites like eBay and Facebook Marketplace for hundreds of dollars - despite being given out in stores for free.

Now, it’s very clear that nothing is immune from this treatment.

Whilst one Bluey Plush Chair was retailing for $39.99 from ALDI directly, they are now being sold on eBay for upwards of triple the price.

One seller in Shellharbour has the duo of Bluey and Bingo Plush Chairs - purchased in the UK - listed for $150, plus an extra $50 for shipping. Others are being shipped directly from the UK, at upwards of $120 for just the one Bluey chair.

"They are greedy"

Needless to say, Aussie mums are fuming over these local resellers in particular, with one shopper taking to the ALDI Mums Facebook page raging over a listing for $102.95 for the chair.

“Fcuking called it... was hoping to get one for my 2yr old bluey mad little boy but none at our store and I see this,” she wrote in the post.

“Karma for these kinda POS individuals.”

And, most of the 230 commenters were well and truly on the same page.

“Resellers are so bad. And they don’t even mark it up to make a small profit. They are greedy,” said one woman.

“Such dog acts, people make me so mad!!” another agreed.

“My husband went through the same with the Bluey gnomes. They should be banned from being re-sold. People need to stop paying the $$ to these scalpers,” said a third.

So, ALDI, it seems like we need a restock!
