An Aussie has revealed a bizarre encounter she had with a man that has left her feeling “violated”.

Lauren, 32, lives in Adelaide and works as a support worker. She was visiting her local supermarket when a conventionally attractive man approached her and asked where the eggs were.

“I politely said, ‘I’m sorry I’m not quite sure I don’t work here’ If that wasn’t obvious by the fact I was wearing an all grey tracksuit,” she told news.com.au.

Later, the same man approached her in the car park, pulled her aside, and asked if she had a boyfriend.

“I said respectfully, ‘I’m not dating right now, but thank you for showing interest.’ He asked why not, which I dismissed and then he proceeded to tell me how pretty he thought I was and what a beautiful smile I had,” she explained.

Lauren said he handled the rejection well and was “respectful” in both interactions. After she fobbed him off for the second time, he got in his car and then accidentally reversed into her car.

“I sat in the car for a moment, and a few moments later, he reversed into my car. I wasn’t sure who it was at first because there didn’t appear to be any cars parked near me beforehand,” she said.

“I was absolutely shocked and concerned when I got out my car to find it was him.”

She said her initial reaction was to assume it was an accident. However, when they were exchanging details, he said something that freaked her out.

“The most frighting part was when I got out to exchange details. He made a cheeky joke and said, ‘Well, this is a funny way to get your number,’ which was clearly a joke, but it made me incredibly uncomfortable,” she said.

Lauren said she now “genuinely” isn’t sure if he accidentally crashed into her car or because he wanted her details.

“I keep thinking surely no one would go to that extreme to get someone’s phone number but it also feels a little too coincidental,” she said.

The situation rattled her so much that she didn’t give him her details and instead took his as a precaution.

Lauren said the whole scenario has left her feeling anxious because she’s noticed a trend of men not taking rejection well.

“I feel like men are way more entitled in their approach and they don’t take perceived rejection well. I feel like many are starting to lack boundaries or awareness around what is and isn’t appropriate,” she said.

She said that his comment after crashing into her car made her “feel uneasy” and was the perfect example of a man not understanding when he was crossing the line.

“He should have considered how that comment may have made me feel, but the delivery seemed almost passive aggressive,” she said.
