A Werribee woman who lashed out at a good Samaritan trying to help her use a Big W photo printing kiosk has been found guilty of assault.

Christine Peirce had been using one of the photo printing terminals at the Pacific Werribee Big W store when a “helpful customer” noticed she was getting frustrated and tried to offer advice, a court heard this week.

Ms Peirce told the Werribee Magistrates’ Court she suffered from anxiety and depression and felt her personal space was being invaded.

The two women ended up in a verbal stoush but things turned physical when Ms Peirce pointed her finger in the victim’s face and it was pushed away, the prosecutor said.

The court heard Ms Peirce then shoved the victim and yanked her hair during the incident on December 11 last year.

During a police interview Ms Peirce said the victim had been “really annoying” and “interfering the whole time” she was trying to use the photo kiosk.

Magistrate John Bentley said Ms Peirce’s behaviour had been “a bit of an over-reaction”.

“(The victim) was trying to be helpful and in future you just have to say ‘no thanks’,” he said.

Ms Peirce said told the court was “ashamed” of her actions.
