Applying for permits in one of the fastest growing suburbs in Melbourne’s west could soon be easier, with extra planning services slated as part of a $2.5 million community centre revamp.
Works started this month on the Tarneit Community Learning Centre redevelopment, which will see a raft of Wyndham Council services available at the hub, including building and planning.

Mayor Mia Shaw said Tarneit’s population boom had driven up demand for services.
“Town planning will also be on offer from the centre, as will council’s economic development unit who … (can provide) information to small businesses about council services and assistance, as well as other available government support,” she said.
The centre will also include a dedicated youth space, improved meeting rooms, shared working spaces, and a cafe.
While the community centre will be closed during the renovations, the Julia Gillard Library will remain open. Customer service can be accessed through the library.
During the works, Maternal Child Health services will be relocated to Rose Grange Early Learning Centre, Tarneit Early Learning Centre and Child’s Play.
The State Government forked out $1.18 million towards the project, which is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
