The Wyndham West Link — a continuous road from Tarneit to Wyndham Vale and Manor Lakes and Wyndham Vale and Werribee to the Princes Fwy — is set to ease the commuter crush in the booming region.

Opposition infrastructure, transport, cities and regional development spokesman Anthony Albanese and Lalor federal Labor MP Joanne Ryan will today announce the $50 million cash splash for the road.

If elected, Labor will consult with local and state governments to duplicate both ends of Armstrong Rd to join Tarneit to the freeway through Wyndham Vale and Werribee.

The link between Sayers and Armstrong roads will be finished in the second stage of the project and will include a bridge over the Werribee River.

Once finished, the road is expected to ease congestion and reduce travel times on Ballan and Heaths roads.

Ms Ryan said the road would “meet the growing needs of the Wyndham region”.

“When last in government, Federal Labor delivered the Regional Rail Link, which provides access from the western and northern parts of Wyndham City to the Melbourne CBD,” she said.

“Today’s commitment to complete the road component of the Wyndham transport corridor builds on Labor’s strong record of delivering for our region.”
