Wyndham soccer club members say they’re “absolutely disgusted” after discovering sports equipment belonging to the club was allegedly damaged by vandals.
West Point Soccer Club volunteers arrived at Tom Roberts Reserve in Point Cook at 11am on Monday to find soccer goals purchased by the club damaged.
“We are a community club run by volunteers and to see this (alleged) vandalism done by someone in our local community is beyond heartbreaking,” a spokesman for the club said.
“Our teams will now have to go without the equipment that we all worked hard to get.”
The damage is believed to have happened overnight between 6pm July 24 and 11am July 25.
The heavy goals had been chained to a fence at the reserve, with club volunteers believing up to three people were involved in pulling the frame apart.
“It would've taken a lot of force to do … its broken on the top corner and the bottom corner.”
