A Melton father of five has been remembered as a “true gentleman” by his heartbroken best mate who was one of the last people he saw before his tragic death on the road.
Passionate motorcyclist Wayne “Wayno” Muller, 59, was killed in a collision on the Hume Freeway on October 24, just hours after visiting his best friend of 20 years Wayne Magri.
Mr Magri said he was “still in shock” over losing his best mate, who he described as the “ultimate gentleman”.
“If you needed anything he would do anything for you, he was the best person you could ever get,” he said.
“Every person he met or spoke to will never forget him.
“He never ever caused trouble, he didn’t even like anyone throwing a bit of rubbish on the floor he was just a good person. If you needed a hand he would stop everything he was doing to come and help you.
“I sometimes just want to ring him up just to hear his voice.”
Mr Magri and his family have set up an online fundraiser to help support Mr Muller’s family with funeral expenses.
Mr Magri said the pair and their families “did everything together”, with the two friends forming a lifetime bond during a serendipitous aircon installation.
“(We met) through a mutual friend because I did his aircon and didn’t charge him and after that he came over to mine and we just became best mates after that,” he said.
“We used to go camping, fishing, our kids grew up together ... we did everything together.”
