Tarneit: Seven teenagers arrested by Victoria Police after alleged car chase

Seven teenagers have allegedly led police on a wild chase which saw three cars damaged in Tarneit overnight.

A wild car chase, in which a police car was allegedly rammed in Tarneit, has landed seven teenagers a date with a children’s court.

Police were alerted to a group of teenagers allegedly behaving suspiciously around a black Ranger Rover Evoke and a white Mazda sedan that were alleged to be stolen.

Two police cars approached the group on Wildwood Pl around 5pm but they allegedly tried to flee the scene after spotting the police.

The white Mazda allegedly rammed a police car before driving through a bollard and into a nearby reserve as the Range Rover Evoke allegedly rammed the same police car while trying to leave the scene.

The Mazda was found in a creek while the Range Rover was left disabled as all occupants allegedly fled from both cars.

Police searched the surrounding area and found seven teenagers, aged between 14 and 19, who were arrested.

Three of the offenders have been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and will face a children’s court with two of them bailed to appear at a later date.

A 19-year-old Truganina man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

Two of the group were charged with theft of a motor vehicle and endangering an emergency services worker and others and will face children’s court.

One group member has been charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle and will face a children’s court.
