Police say they’ve recovered stolen cars and “high end” jewellery from a home in Melbourne’s west allegedly operating as an unlicensed second-hand shop.
On Thursday, Vehicle Crime Squad detectives released images of the “distinctive jewellery” allegedly recovered from the Caroline Springs address, hoping the owners would come forward.
“These are fairly distinctive pieces of jewellery – they’re high end pieces and pretty valuable,” Detective Senior Constable Shannon Foden said.
“I have no doubt they’re incredibly precious pieces of jewellery to someone, and we are very keen to reunite them with their owners.”
The search for the jewellery's owners comes more than two months after police raided the home on December 21 amid an investigation into an attempt to steal a Maserati sports car from a Docklands apartment the month before.
At the Braeside Walk scene they allegedly seized three cars including a Ford XR8 ute, a BMW 750i and an allegedly rebirthed Mitsubishi Evolution.
Police believe those vehicles were to be rebirthed and uncovered cloned and false registration plates at the property.
Detectives also seized drugs, including methylamphetamines and GHB.
Detective Sergeant Scott Williams at the time said rebirthed vehicles were a “major safety threat” to unwitting buyers.
“The fact we had a syndicate operating unlicensed is of immense concern,” he said,” he said.
Two Caroline Springs men, a 43-year-old and a 29-year-old, were arrested at the scene and charged with multiple offences.
