Motorbike hit in Melbourne's west

A young female motorcyclist was the victim of a hit-and-run by an “erratic” driver in Melbourne overnight.

Police are investigating a collision in Footscray after the motorcyclist was struck by a car on Wednesday night.

A silver sedan was seen driving erratically, according to police, on Ballarat Rd before it hit the bike about 9.05pm.

Police on Thursday released dashcam footage of the incident.

Shot through the back window of another car, the silver sedan pulls into the left lane behind the motorcyclist to overtake another driver.

When a third lane opens up, the sedan speeds up, seemingly trying to squeeze between the bike and a 4WD in the right lane.

The bike is clipped by the front left corner of the car and thrown onto the road.

The rider, a 22-year-old woman, sustained injuries and was assessed by paramedics but did not need hospital treatment.

The silver sedan did not stop at the scene.

Anyone with information, CCTV footage or witnesses are urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
