An alleged hoon clocked speeds of up to 180km/h in Melbourne’s southwest before dumping his car and running from police, officers allege.
It comes after police allegedly detected a blue Toyota sedan flying at 170km/h in a 100km/h zone along Princes Hwy in Point Cook about 10.20pm.
The air wing tracked the driver as they turned off the freeway and allegedly continued speeding.
“Police on the ground attempted to intercept the car on Sneydes Rd but the driver failed to stop and drove away,” A Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
“Air Wing officers continued to track the driver who got back onto the freeway and allegedly reached speeds of 180km/h before exiting at Williamstown Rd.”
The hoon allegedly continued through a number of suburbs to Spotswood before dumping his car on Watt St and attempting to run off.
But officers chased him down and made an arrest before allegedly uncovering ice in his bag.
The 40-year-old Spotswood man faces a stack of charges including conduct endangering life, dangerous driving, driving a motor vehicle when directed to stop, driving disqualified, traffic a drug of dependence, possess a drug of dependence and commit indictable offences while on bail.
