Home owner Kamal Grewal said his family was in deep sleep when they woke to a “terrifying” noise that has left his young children “traumatised”.
“We were so shocked, we first checked on the kids and then we came out to check on the driver and his passengers but they did not say anything to us and ran away,” Mr Grewal said.
“We are so lucky, if he did not hit the kitchen he might have hit a bedroom and gone through the house because his speed is so high.
“About 18 months ago a similar incident happened, it almost hit the house next to us but got stuck on a large stone ... in the middle of the night people are speeding because the road is wide but this intersection is dangerous.”
Mr Grewal said his neighbour wanted the council to implement road safety precautions such as speed bumps to prevent another accident.
Melton council was approached for comment over whether it had plans to implement road safety precautions but said it was not appropriate to comment given the incident was under police investigation.

SES were at the scene and assisted firefighters to remove the car from the property and tarp the house.
The scene was deemed under control about 2.40am.
