A young driver who allegedly caused a fatal crash in Truganina and fled the scene will front court today.
Major Collision Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances of a fatal crash in Truganina about 12.50am Thursday.
Police were told a 23-year-old Hillside man was the driver of a silver Holden SUV when it collided with a blue Holden CRV on Hopkins Rd which forced it to flip on its side and catch fire.
The other driver, a 45-year-old Melton man, was transported to hospital in a critical condition where he later died.
Police say the Hillside man allegedly fled the scene on foot but was arrested a short time later.
The 23-year-old was charged with dangerous driving causing death, fail to render assistance and fail to stop at the scene of a collision.
He was remanded overnight and will appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
