A Melton South man has been arrested after a 10-month investigation into an alleged non-fatal shooting in Melbourne’s west last year.
The 46-year-old was arrested on Thursday and charged with a string of offences including intentionally causing serious injury, reckless conduct endangering life and using a firearm in contravention of firearm prohibition order.
Police allege the victim, a 28-year-old male, was driving a white Holden Commodore station wagon on Clarkes Road in Brookfield just after midnight on December 30 last year, when he was rammed off the road.
It’s alleged he was sitting alone in the vehicle when the accused man approached and discharged a shot into his ankle.
The victim phoned two friends who took him to a hospital in Bacchus Marsh with non-life threatening injuries.
Police have previously alleged there was a second vehicle involved in the incident, however no arrests have been made.
Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad allegedly located ammunition and cannabis plants during the raid on the man’s Melton South property.
The 46-year-old will appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
