Man stabbed during home burglary near Melton

A man is recovering from a serious injury in hospital after he was stabbed by a burglar he found in his house. Read what we know.

Police are investigating after a man was stabbed on Flinders St, Taylors Hill and hospitalised in a serious condition.

A Melton man is recovering in hospital after he was stabbed by an armed burglar.

Police are hunting down the offender after the incident on Flinders St on Thursday afternoon.

Police were told the man had returned to his Taylors Hill home and disturbed the burglar who had entered the property about 3pm.

The man is understood to have confronted the intruder, who then stabbed him in the upper body.

The intruder then fled the scene.

The injured man, aged in his 50s, was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition.
