Major reshuffle underway at Highpoint Shopping Centre

One of Melbourne’s largest shopping centres just welcomed 16 new stores at Highpoint — with more to come. See the detail.

Left empty by the closure of dozens of Target stores across Australia, a new tenancy has announced plans to set up shop in one of Melbourne’s largest shopping centres.

Highpoint Shopping Centre has undergone a major reshuffle in final quarter of 2021, with the closure of Target, downsizing of David Jones and 16 new tenancies opened ahead of Christmas.

Now Coles and Liquorland have thrown their hat in the ring, intending to fill the Target vacancy in November.

“Coles is excited to be bringing a brand new supermarket to Highpoint Shopping Centre in Melbourne’s northwest,” a spokeswoman announced this week.

“The new store will support local retail and construction jobs, as well as offer more choice, great value and an enhanced shopping experience to customers in Melbourne’s west and beyond.”

Highpoint regional general manager Rachel Duggan said the centre was “thrilled” to welcome so many new retailers and expand their offerings.

Late last year retailers including Adidas, Calvin Klien, Commonry, Dr Martens, Glue Store, Guess, Sketchers and Stylerunner expanded into Highpoint — the largest centre west of Melbourne.

Also coming soon is co-working space Waterman which is taking over a massive 4600 square metre tenancy on the top level of the centre capable of servicing up to 1000 businesses.

Founder Neville Waterman said the service’s “rapidly expanding footprint” would give commuters from almost every area of Melbourne the ability to work closer to home.
