A Brooklyn man has faced court after an alleged roadside shooting forced a busy hospital into a two-hour lockdown.
Liukava Peniongo, 20, briefly faced the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday on charges including reckless conduct endangering life.
Police allege an “altercation” broke out between three people near a fast-food restaurant in St Albans about 8.45am on August 28 this year.
A single shot was allegedly fired from a handgun at a blue Holden Commodore.
Nearby, Sunshine Hospital was forced into a two-hour lockdown after a man and a woman were sighted.
Police say the pair had fled the alleged shooting in the Commodore, when they crashed into a marked police car on Furlong Rd.
Mr Peniongo was allegedly arrested nearby while the woman, a 21-year-old from Werribee, was released pending further enquiries.
In court, Mr Peniongo’s lawyer Peter Delorenzo asked for the matter to be adjourned to a later date.
He asked for the earliest available date but said the defence was still awaiting the results of a “forensic report”.
Mr Peniongo will return to the same court on November 8.
