A former Melbourne estate agent is facing significant jail time after he was allegedly nabbed running a high-end meth trafficking racket in the city’s west.

David Costa, 42, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of meth and failing to stop for police.

It’s alleged Mr Costa did a runner on police who had attempted to stop the accused drug dealer at Altona North on January 6 this year.

Mr Costa, who was also charged with multiple drive at speed dangerous charges, allegedly sped off from police.

Police on the accused runner’s tail eventually caught up with Mr Costa at Point Cook where it was alleged he trafficked a commercial quantity of meth.

Mr Costa, who was charged with meth possession and retention of stolen goods, was also allegedly nabbed with drugs and several stolen passports.

Mr Costa, of Point Cook, was a prominent estate agent in Melbourne’s west who ran Elders Real Estate in Werribee and Tarneit for 15 years.

Mr Costa, a father of two, had his bail extended to front court a later date.
