Three people have been evacuated after a fire tore through a house in Melbourne’s west, threatening neighbouring homes.
Emergency services rushed to Droop St in Footscray after neighbours noticed black smoke and called Triple 0 on Tuesday about 11.15am.
Authorities arrived to find a vacant brick veneer house to be fully engulfed in flames.
A Fire Rescue Victoria spokeswoman said the spreading fire threatened nearby properties and three residents were evacuated from the house next door.
The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes but the house sustained significant damage, including partial structural collapse.
Authorities have deemed the cause of the fire to be suspicious.
A Community Advice was also issued for black smoke issuing in Footscray because of the fire.
