A Black Power gang member who allegedly committed a horror home invasion is back on the streets despite anti-bikie police fearing the man will hunt his victims.

Jadyn Kelly, 25, was granted bail in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday after he was charged with multiple offences including aggravated home invasion.

Kelly allegedly stormed his victims’ Cobblebank home just before midnight on January 7 this year.

The court was told Kelly, armed with a flick knife, and four other men entered the home while the family was asleep upstairs.

The dad was assaulted by Kelly and the other men after he came downstairs, the court heard.

It was alleged Kelly and another man, armed with knuckledusters, repeatedly punched the dad in the head while his wife and children sought refuge in an upstairs room.

“Where’s the money … where’s the pounds?,” the men were alleged to have said to the dad.

The court was told a crony took possession of a gel blaster gun which belonged to the dad.

Kelly and his mates allegedly kept bashing the dad before ripping a $7000 gold chain from His neck.

The men also allegedly made the dad remove a valuable bracelet and stole beers from the fridge.

The battered dad managed to block the stairs to protect his family despite the duress, the court heard.

Kelly and the other men then fled the home.

A co-accused was arrested on February 15 before Kelly handed himself to police on March 23.

The other three alleged intruders remain on the run, the court was told.

A Facebook photo of Kelly in his Black Power colours was presented to the court.

Kelly and his co-accused were allegedly linked to the crime scene through DNA, phone records and clothing found in a getaway car, the court heard.

Echo Taskforce detective Senior Constable Hayley Blythe told the court police opposed bail because Kelly was a “patched” member of the ultraviolent Black Power street gang.

The court was presented with evidence Kelly was a Black Power member including a photo of his gang tattoo and a Facebook image of Kelly in gang colours.

Sen-Constable Blythe said Black Power was a predominantly Polynesian street gang affiliated with the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang.

Sen-Constable Blythe said Black Power members committed home invasions, ran drugs and guns and committed drive-by shootings at the bequest of their seniors in the Rebels.

The court was told Black Power members committed crimes to “further their criminal status”.

Sen-Constable Blythe also expressed concern Kelly would go after and “cause harm” to the victim and his family.

The court was told the family was still traumatised and the children require ongoing psychiatric treatment.

Police also feared Kelly, a NZ citizen with permanent residency, would fly back to New Zealand to hide-out with family if released.

The court heard Kelly moved to Australia to be close to his young daughter and would not risk that relationship by fleeing the country.

Magistrate Donna Bakos said there was “no doubt” the family experienced “sheer terror”.

However, Magistrate Bakos took into account Kelly’s lack of priors, the two-year delay in matters going to trial and the efforts Kelly had made on remand to address his meth, alcohol and gambling issues.

Kelly, who must surrender his passport, will face court at a later date.
