A Craigieburn man has been charged after allegedly blowing over two times the alcohol limit and running four red lights in Laverton.

A driver who allegedly ran multiple red lights and blew more than twice the legal alcohol limit in Melbourne’s west on Sunday night has had their car impounded.

Police intercepted a 28-year-old Craigieburn man in Laverton at about 11pm on Sunday after he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Forsyth and Sayers roads in Truganina.

The driver allegedly ran four red lights by the time police pulled him over.

The driver was clocked travelling at 175km/h in a 60 zone and allegedly returned a breath test result of .118.

Police impounded the man’s car for 30 days at a cost of $1006.10.

The man has been charged on summons for drink driving, speeding and traffic related offences.
