An exclusive exit poll by the Warrnambool News seems to show Liberal in front as others cast donkey votes or couldn’t recall who they voted for.

Early voting centres for the federal election opened on Monday including on Raglan Parade at Warrnambool.

Out of 100 people polled, 37 people said they voted Liberal, 27 people said Labor and 22 people independent.

Seven said they would cast a donkey vote or did not recall who they voted for.

Mother and daughter Annette and Dorris said they were concerned Prime Minister Scott Morrison was taking Australia down the wrong path.

But they weren’t sure who they would vote for instead.

“I don't know. I think the Labor Party has been a bit lazy. They should have learnt from last time because I think if they had a stronger person in front they would be well ahead,” Annette said.

“But there are a lot of great people, I’m backing the party.”

One voter said they chose to do a donkey vote as “they don’t do nothing for me”.

Another voter said it was time for change, and voted independent, while others voted Liberal and had done so their whole life.

One voter said he voted Labor because the party was “in tune” with his thinking and he didn’t like Scott Morrison.

Independent candidate for Wannon Alex Dyson used TikTok for his electoral campaign when meeting voters at the booth.

During his video Dyson, wearing headphones, is asked “What are you listening to?”

“Two old men yelling at each other at the expense of the nation (referencing the debate between Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese),” he said.
