A 22-year-old who was killed after losing control of his dirt bike and crashing was part of a group of riders.

A man has died in a dirt bike crash in Victoria’s southwest.

The incident occurred south of Colac about 1.30pm on Sunday.

Police believe the 22-year-old rider was separated from a group of bikers at the time and lost control turning a corner before crashing into a tree on Westwood Rd, Barongarook.

The man was found unresponsive by another rider and died at the scene.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

This year, 186 people have died on Victorian roads, compared with 158 at the same time last year.
