INDEPENDENT candidate Chin Loi questioned the legitimacy of Leader’s questions without notice when asked to name the Victorian Treasurer.
Mr Loi felt the questioning was a “test rather then a profile interview”, calling back afterwards to provide the correct answer of Michael O’Brien.
Liberal candidate Tarun Singh also failed to return phone calls prior to deadline.
Still, developing infrastructure on Melbourne’s roads in the west proved to be a major talking point among the 10 candidates.
Congestion was highlighted last week in a smash involving three trucks and two cars when an elderly man had to be freed from his crushed car on the Princess Freeway in Point Cook.
The smash forced the closure of outbound lanes until later that day.
Labor candidate Telmo Languiller, presently state Derrimut MP, said he would talk to experts to help deliver the best possible infrastructure plans.
Greens candidate Rohan Waring, 22, said he would work towards improving the public transport system to take cars off the roads.
“We (will) make our buses and trains connect better to encourage city workers to take public transport,” Mr Waring said.
Three independents — Choi, Safwat Ali and Joh Bauch — will contest the seat.
Bauch claimed there wasn’t proper infrastructure for developing areas of Truganina, Tarneit and Williams Landing.
“It’s good to see the number of GP clinics that are opening up but, again, you need infrastructure to get there,” Mr Bauch said
