A man has died in Melbourne’s north after smashing into a power pole, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash.
Investigators believe a Toyota 4WD was travelling east on Dundas St when the driver drove onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a power pole near Victoria Drive about 6pm Wednesday.
A Victoria Police spokesman said the driver, a 62-year-old man from Lalor, died at the scene.
“At this stage it’s believed the driver had a medical episode before the crash,” the police spokesman said.
“No one else was injured.”
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined, and investigations remain ongoing.
This comes one day after a 15-year-old was killed in the horror Hume Highway crash where a 14-year-old was driving.
It takes this year’s road toll to 153.
