Traders at a major western suburbs shopping centre have been forced to close or relocate in the face of a major carpark renovation.
Target will shut for up to eight months at Pacific Werribee from March 18 until “early November” due to the works.
Target has instructed customers to shop at its Point Cook and Brimbank stores during the shutdown
Target is one of many stores that will be impacted by the construction, which started earlier this month and is expected to finish by the end of 2024.
Resolve Medical Clinic will shut down for good next Friday February 10, with medical staff
relocating over the road to the Epic Medical Centre above the Chemist Warehouse on Heaths Rd, where patients will be able to still see their GPs.
Pacific Werribee general manager Ryan Ling said the shopping centre would work with all impacted businesses.
“Pacific Werribee has recently commenced programmed works which will be staged and are expected to be substantially completed by the end of next year,” Mr Ling said.
“All activity has been planned to minimise impacts to our customers, retailers and the surrounding community, and most of the centre remains operating as business as usual.
“These works do necessitate periods of store closures while some tenancies are accessed for works, and we are working closely with our impacted retail partners on tailored solutions for their individual circumstances, including temporary or permanent relocations within the centre.
“We remain committed to open and transparent communication with our community throughout the duration of this project, and we thank them for their patience during this time.
“The centre is always evolving, and we are taking this opportunity to remix our retail offer as part of our ongoing investment in our community. We look forward to being able to announce some exciting new retailers opening in the centre soon.”
