Dutch international and reigning Ryder Medallist Scott Edwards returned with a bang on Saturday and is straight back into the Premier Cricket Team of the Week.

He’s joined by Aussie international Marcus Harris, who earns selection for a second straight week with his first century of the season.

Meanwhile, Mackenzie Harvey’s maiden Premier Cricket century and Will Sutherland’s second sees them picked.

With the ball, Cam McClure, Brody Couch, Liam Cox, and Jade Christensen all picked up four wickets.

And young Cat Daanish Mehta’s match-winning display earns him a spot in the 12.

The Round 11 team includes a pair of Tigers, Cats and Bombers, a Saint, Blue, True Blue, Dragon, Heat and Hawk.

1. MACKENZIE HARVEY (Carlton)

The Melbourne Renegades left-hander scored his maiden Premier Cricket century, coming in his 44th First XI game for the Blues. And he did it on a wet wicket and against former Test paceman James Pattinson, carrying his bat to make 117 not out off 140 balls (three sixes, seven fours). “It wasn’t your typical flashy BBL innings which he’s been very capable of doing,’’ Carlton skipper Evan Gulbis said. “It was a grafting, hard working knock. Hopefully it takes his cricket to new heights.”

2. MARCUS HARRIS (St Kilda)

The Saints opener has clearly relished a return to Premier Cricket and is taking out his frustration at being dropped for the final Ashes Test on opposition bowlers. After a 97 not out in his first game back last week against Northcote, Harris smashed 115 from 142 balls against Fitzroy Doncaster. The knock included nine boundaries and a trio of sixes. No other St Kilda batsman scored more than 25.

3. SCOTT EDWARDS (Richmond) (WK)

After a duck in his first game back from international duties, Edwards bounced back superbly with a magnificent 116 from 107 balls. He combined with Wil Parker for a match-winning 185-run third-wicket partnership. It’s no surprise, he scored a half-century in each of the Netherlands’ three one-day internationals against Afghanistan in Doha last month. He’s also take the gloves in this side after two catches and a stumping.

4. JAMES SEYMOUR (Essendon)

The Essendon captain led from the front on Saturday, top-scoring with 80 from 114 balls and taking 1-25 from seven overs as the Bombers belted Footscray. Seymour’s knock included eight boundaries and a six as he combined with Isaac Willett for a 59-run opening stand and youngster Farzan Chowna in a 79-run partnership. It was also Seymour’s top score at Premier Cricket level this season and takes him to 234 runs at 46.80.

5. WILL SUTHERLAND (Prahran)

Sutherland’s 136 off 120 balls for Prahran against Melbourne earned high praise; Demons coach Ben Vague describing it as good as any he had seen in Premier Cricket. “We were so nervous the whole time he was out there batting,” Vague said. Sutherland cracked five sixes and six fours to lift his team to the shadows of a stirring run-chase victory after it had slumped to 3-25 in reply to Melbourne’s 6-260 at the Albert Ground. But a running catch on the boundary from Jack Prestwidge off the last ball of the 47th over ended the 22-year-old Victorian all-rounder’s brilliant knock. It was his second century in Premier ranks.

6. WIL PARKER (Richmond)

Parker was at the heart of Richmond’s big win on Saturday. Walking to the crease at 3-17, the state contracted all-rounder and Scott Edwards rescued the Tigers’ innings and turned the game on it’s head with a 185-run partnership. Parker fell for 77 from 95 balls with a pair of fours and sixes. The spinner then cleaned up Kingston Hawthorn’s tail, finishing with 3-31 from 9.1 overs to seal a 98-run win.

7. JONTY RUSHTON (Northcote)

First Rushton helped dismantle Ringwood and then he played a key role in Northcote’s successful chase. The all-rounder claimed 3-43 and then hit a quick-fire 54 against his former club in a seven-wicket win. Rushton’s first half-century of the season – and first since February 2020 – came in just 39 balls and included 10 boundaries and a six. His attacking intent at the top of the Dragons’ order can take games away from rivals in an instant.

8. BRODY COUCH (Geelong)

The paceman took 4-36 from 10 overs in the Cats’ thrilling win over Melbourne University. After an erratic start, Couch hit back with three sizzling overs in which he dismissed Uni key men Andrew Young and Harrison Emms. Couch has taken seven wickets in his past two games for Geelong and will be a key factor as the Cats try to claw their way into finals.

9. LIAM COX (Frankston Peninsula)

The 21-year-old, who rarely bowls a bad ball, captured career-best figures of 4-32 off 8.4 overs in the Heat’s win over Camberwell Magpies. His accurate, stump-to-stump medium pace created plenty of pressure, especially with keeper Jacques Augustin up at the stumps. Cox, who comes from the Seaford Tigers club, started the season in the seconds and has grabbed his chance since being called up to the ones in Round 7. He’s taken at least a wicket in every game this season.

10. JADE CHRISTENSEN (Kingston Hawthorn)

The 25-year-old, in his third season of First XI, continues to improve and his 4-30 off 10 overs against Richmond on Saturday was a career-best return. He even achieved a PB with the bat, making 11 at No.10. Christensen’s ability to swing the ball has netted him 18 wickets this season and he’s consistently caused headaches for opening batsmen.

11. CAM McCLURE (Essendon)

The Bombers lanky paceman was on from his opening over when he removed Dylan Brasher and he proceeded to tear through the Footscray top order. Brasher, Dan Sartori, Dean Russ and Ash Armstrong all fell to the state contracted quick as he collected 4-13 from 10 overs. Has impressed since the Christmas break with 6-33 in has past two games and 10 wickets at 22.8 in six matches this season.

12. DAANISH MEHTA (Geelong)

Mehta produced a match-winning display with ball and bat as the Cats beat Melbourne Uni. He took 3-41 from his 10 overs and then made 38no, including a straight six off the bowling of former international spinner Fawad Ahmed that broke the shackles as the Cats pulled off a thrilling two-wicket win. All this is only his sixth Premier game.
