It was another thrilling weekend of Premier Cricket.

A trio of batters fell just short of deserved hundreds, while three bowlers snared four wickets.

Six matches saw the victors pick up a bonus point as several players produced brilliant individual performances.

We’ve brought the best of them together in our Team of the Week.

Two Saints and two Rams led the team, while a Demon, Bulldog, Magpie, True Blue, Blue, Lion, Tiger and Cat also make the cut.

1. ZANE KEIGHRAN (Melbourne)

The Melbourne opener produced his best knock in club colours after falling narrowly short of a century with 95 runs from 103 balls against Camberwell. Keighran finished with 10 boundaries and four sixes during his stay at the crease. He now has four half-centuries to his name this season in all formats.

2. DYLAN BRASHER (Footscray)

Ensured the Bulldogs made short work of Essendon’s 9-197 with a stylish 91 from 99 balls to secure his side a bonus point victory. Brasher hit eight boundaries and a six and combined with Daniel Sartori for a 65-run opening partnership before putting the game to bed with a 126-run partnership alongside Travis Dean.

3. ANDREW GORVIN (Camberwell)

The Glamorgan import fell agonisingly short of a maiden Premier Cricket century for Camberwell, falling for 97 on Saturday against Melbourne. Gorvin couldn’t have done much more for the Magpies, top-scoring and leading the way with the ball, taking 3-37, in a superb individual performance. However, he couldn’t stop the Demons snatching a two-wicket win with eight ball remaining.

4. DAMON EGAN (Prahran)

The True Blues captain continued golden run with 92 off 104 balls to set up a gripping four-run win over Casey South Melbourne. Egan’s past four hands have brought him scores of 83, 28, 92 and 92, and he now has 478 runs at 53 for the season.

5. TOM RUSS (St Kilda)

A dominant all-round performance by the 28-year-old was crucial in the Saints’ resounding win over Frankston Peninsula. Russ made 61 off 79 balls at No 5 and then captured 3-21, including the key scalp of Heat gun Brodie Symons that broke a 78-run partnership.

6. EVAN GULBIS (Carlton)

The champion was in the thick of the action as the ladder-leading Blues overpowered Melbourne Uni. Gulbis set the tone with a disciplined bowling display, taking 2-29 off 10 overs, and then smacked 58 off 43 balls (with 10 fours and 1 six) at the top of the order to put his side on the path to a comfortable victory.

7. LIAM BANTHORPE (Fitzroy Doncaster) (WK)

The wicketkeeper-batsman propelled the Lions to a dominant bonus-point victory over Northcote. He started out by taking three catches and a stumping as the Dragons were rolled for 139 and then produced an impressive 53 from 75 balls at the top of the order to ensure a six-wicket win.

8. SAM MILLS (Richmond)

The reliable all-rounder delivered another decisive performance as the Tigers continued their march to the finals. He collected 3-12 off 5.5 overs, including the wicket of Hawks skipper Shorye Chopra, and then capped off a good day with 15 not out as the Tigers coasted to victory.

9. MATT FOTIA (Ringwood)

Continued his brilliant form with 4-31 from 10 overs, the third time he has taken four wickets in an innings this season. Fotia now has 25 wickets for the season, six best of the next best, at an average of 12.36. His five runs from 18 balls also were critical as he finished not out as Ringwood held on to win by two wickets.

10. DOM MCGLINCHEY (Geelong)

Geelong made the long trip across to Dandenong but McGlinchey showed no ill effects, rattling through the Panthers top order. The Cats quick had top three Tom Donnell, Brett Forsyth and Sahan Perera back in the sheds in quick order as the home team collapsed to 3-26 and never recovered. Geelong won by five wickets and secured a bonus point.

11. MATT HENNIG (St Kilda)

Hennig returned to the St Kilda line-up to devastating effect as he finished with season best figures of 4-22 in his side’s comfortable win over Frankston Peninsula. His performance took him to 15 wickets for the season at an average of 18.8.

12. DAVID KING (Ringwood)

King produced a well rounded game against Greenvale Kangaroos with his third half-century of the season, scoring 56 runs from 82 balls. With the ball he finished with 2-30 from his nine overs.
