At the half-way mark of the cricket season we list the best players from all country Victorian competitions.

In a country cricket season disrupted by flooding and wet weather, there have still been some outstanding individual performers across the state.

As all competitions take a much-needed break with Christmas and New Year, we take a look at those who have impressed in competitions around Victoria.

Recently, we found the best players in country cricket this millennium, now we are on the hunt for those who have impressed this season.

Here are the best performers so far.

Michael Allen, Gisborne (Gisborne)

The pace bowler has taken 16 wickets at an incredible average of 6.63. His best figures this season are 4/10.

Xavier Bone, Nhill (Horsham)

Bone has taken 13 wickets so far this season, including one five wicket haul. His average is just over 14.

Clinton Baker, Terang Mortlake (Warrnambool and District Cricket Association)

Baker has taken 13 wickets to be tied for the lead in the competition. He averages 7.31 to be the best in the competition in terms of wickets and average.

Tim Brain, Birregurra (Colac)

Brain has taken 10 wickets this season in the Colac competition to be a joint leader. His average is the best out of the leaders with 9.3

Craig Britten, Russells Creek (Warrnambool and District Cricket Association)

Britten has taken 13 wickets to be tied for the lead in the competition. He averages just over eight with the ball.

Joshua Brown, East Ballarat (Ballarat)

Brown has taken 15 wickets this season so far with his three on the weekend moving him to first outright. His average is 19.33 so far this season.

Nathaniel Holmes Brown, St Mary’s Tyntynder (Swan Hill)

Holmes Brown leads the wicket takers by one after taking nine wickets this season. Holmes Brown averages around 12 in the competition and has the best figures of 3/16

Mitchell Clark, Nerrena (Leongatha)

Out of the four centuries scored in the competition this season, Clark has half of them. The Nerrena player has scored 397 runs so far this season at an average of 79.4. His highest score is 116.

Chris Clement, Wangaratta Magpies (Wangaratta)

Leads the competition by six wickets over the next best. Clement has taken 19 wickets at an average of 6.21. His best figures are 5/30.

Dilan Chandima, Darley Cricket Club (Ballarat)

A standout so far in the Ballarat Cricket Association with the bat with 450 runs from six matches. Chandima has scored two centuries already this season and averages 75. He’s also taken 13 wickets this season to be second on the list.

Mitchell Dahlenburg, Nhill (Horsham)

The top order batsmen has the most runs in Horsham with 188 so far. Dahlenburg has an average of 62.67 and has been not out three times out of the six innings he’s played. The only thing missing this season is a century.

Adam Decicco, Cobram (Murray Valley)

Decicco averages more than two wickets a game this season. The Cobram bowler has taken 27 wickets, including two five wicket hauls and has done it with an average of just over seven.

The opener has made 281 runs this season at an average of 46.83. He is one of three players to score a century in the competition this year.

Nicholas Farley, Eaglehawk (Bendigo)

Farley is one of three bowlers to take 13 wickets in the Bendigo competition this season. The most of all the bowlers.

Tyron Gamage, Latrobe (Latrobe Valley)

Has taken 15 wickets in the competition to be tied for the most wickets in the competition. His average this season is 6.73.

Samit Gohil, Laanecoorie Dunolly (Maryborough District)

Gohil has made 280 runs at an average of 140 this season. In his four innings the batsman has scored one hundred and had two half centuries. A stunning start to the season.

Sanjaya Gangodawila, Western Park (Warragul)

Despite a duck last round, the Western Park batsmen is still the leader in runs this season. Gangodawila has scored 250 runs this year, including a century. His average is 50.

Cameron Graham, Glengarry (Traralgon)

When you take 9/21 in one game it is no surprise to be the leading wickettaker. Graham has taken 20 wickets in six games at an average of 5.35.

Graham has taken 17 wickets in six matches to be two clear of the next bowler in the competition. The opening bowler took 5/50 in one game this season.

Jeremy Gray, Ellinbank (Warragul)

Gray averages three wickets a game this season for Ellinbank. He’s taken 19 wickets in six matches at an average of 11.37. Gray’s best figures are 4/21.

Jarrod Groves, Alvie (Colac)

Groves has averaged 66 with the bat to be the leading runscorer this season. He’s scored 198 runs, which has included two fifties and a best knock of 94.

Thomas Hemsley, North Albury (Albury Wodonga)

The leading wicket taker this year by one wicket over the rest of the competition. Hensley has taken 19 wickets for North Albury at an average of 12.

Ryan Hinton, Swan Hill (Swan Hill)

Hinton has made 110 runs this season in the limited games in the competition. He averages more than 36 in the competition and has a highest score of 82.

Rhys Holdsworth, Trafalgar (Latrobe Valley)

Holdsworth has been so good this year, he is almost 100 runs ahead of his next rival for most runs scored. The middle order batsmen has scored 365 runs this season at an average of more than 60. He almost became the first player in the competition to score 100 this season but fell for 97 in one game.

Brendan Huf, St Andrews (Hamilton)

Averages 89 with the bat this season and has made 267 runs. This includes a 104 not out earlier in the season.

Noah Hurley, Collegians (Sale Maffra)

Hurley averages almost four wickets per game this season. He’s taken 30 wickets in eight matches with five wicket hauls coming in four games. The Collegians player has the best figures of 5/9.

Zac Hurley, Collegians (Sale Maffra)

The opening batsmen is leading the runscorers in the competition after scoring his first ever A-grade century in October. Hurley made 108 that day and now has 340 runs for the season at an average of 42.50.

Leigh Irving, Tallarook (Seymour)

In the limited games in the competition, Irving has impressed. The Tallarook batter has scored 92 runs in two matches and has been out once this year.

Dylan Johnstone, Bendigo (Bendigo)

Johnstone is one of three bowlers to take 13 wickets in the Bendigo competition this season. The most of all the bowlers.

Tyler Jones, Leitchville-Gunbower (Goulburn Murray)

Jones has made 309 runs this season, more than 20 more than his next rival. He is the only player in the competition to make a century and averages 77 in the competition.

Dylan Jordan, Orbost Cricket (Bairnsdale)

Has made 319 runs at an average of 63 in seven games of cricket. Is one of three batsmen to make a century in the competition and has the highest score this season with 121.

James La Brooy, Peninsula OB (Mornington Peninsula)

Has taken 27 wickets this season to lead the competition by two wickets over his next rival. His best figures this season are 4/28.

Tyler Larkin, Central Park-St Brendan’s (Shepparton)

The top order batsman, who formerly played Premier Cricket, has been a star this season in Cricket Shepparton action.

Larkin has scored 324 runs at an average of 81 and has scored a century as well for Central Park-St Brendan’s.

Joseph Lovel, Laanecoorie Dunolly (Maryborough District)

One of four players in the Maryborough District competition to take nine wickets this season. Lovel has the best average of the four with just over 12.

Harry Lumsden, Maryborough (Maryborough District)

One of four players in the Maryborough District competition to take nine wickets this season.

Tom Mathieson, North Geelong (Geelong)

Only one person this season has a five wicket haul in Geelong cricket and his name is Tom Mathieson. The fast left arm bowler is the leading wicket taker with 17 wickets and is seven clear of the next best. He has an average of 6.76 in the competition.

Harrison McColl, Morwell Tigers Yinnar Raiders (Latrobe Valley)

Has taken 15 wickets this season in the competition to be tied as the leading wicket taker.

Ethan McKinnis, Chalambar (Grampians)

He might have only played four games this season, but McKinnis has been the best in taking wickets. The Chalambar player has taken 15 wickets at an average of 5.4. His best figures this season are 6/24.

Luke McMaster, Koo Wee Rup (Casey Cardinia)

McMaster has made 348 runs this season, at an average of just over 49. This included a magnificent 193 McMaster made against Clyde in November.

The talented cricketer has been destructive this season in the competition. In six games, McNamara has scored three centuries and 424 runs at an average of 106.

Robbie Millar, Orbost Cricket (Bairnsdale)

Has take an average of three wickets per game already this season to sit on 21 wickets after seven games. His average this season is 10. Millar is a former under-19 Ireland international.

Peter Moore, Cohuna (Goulburn Murray)

Has taken 11 wickets in the Goulburn Murray competition to be among the leading wicket takers this year. His average among the top is the best, coming in at 6.27.

Ryan Morley, Traralgon Imperials (Traralgon)

The only player this season to score 300 runs in the competition. Morley has scored 340 runs with four half centuries and a highest score of 77.

Ryan Mulder, Irrewarra (Colac)

Mulder has taken 10 wickets this season in the Colac competition. His average in the competition is 13.2

Travis Nicholson, Swifts-Great Western (Grampians)

One of only four batters to score a century in the competition, making 105 not out in one game. Nicholson has scored 371 runs this season at an average of 92.75

Mark Nolan, Nagambie (Shepparton)

The all-rounder, who is a fast bowler, leads the competition with 14 wickets in five matches. This includes a 5/19 during the season. His average is an incredible 7.93.

Koot Pienaar, Rovers United Bruck (Wangaratta)

One of only two batsmen to score a century this season in the competition. Has made 243 runs at an average of 34.71.

Has made 646 runs in 15 innings at an average of 49.69. The middle order batsmen has made five half centuries this season and his highest score is 91.

Jayden Rosin, Echuca South (Goulburn Murray)

Has taken 11 wickets in the Goulburn Murray competition to be among the leading wicket takers this year.

James Ryan, Bendigo Cricket Club (Bendigo)

Ryan has almost scored 400 runs this season already in the competition. The prolific runscorer has scored 397 at an average of 66.17. Ryan hasn’t scored a century yet in the competition but has made four half centuries.

Matthew Scott, Colts Phelans (Maryborough District)

One of four players in the Maryborough District competition to take nine wickets this season.

Tharaka Sendanayake, Pomborneit (South West)

The Pomborneit player only got to the top of the runscorers list after making 109 last weekend in the final round of the season before Christmas. He now has 191 runs for the season and averages almost 100 in the competition. Sendanayake is also among the leading wicket takers in the competition with 11.

Shoaib Shaikh, Tallangatta (Albury Wodonga)

The leading runscorer two seasons ago is on track to do it again this season. Shaikh has scored 311 runs this season at an average of 77.

Marcus Stewart, Woodend (Gisborne)

Stewart might not have the best average in the competition but he’s been consistent enough to lead the competition in runs. He’s scored 270 runs including three 50s at an average of 54.

Ben Stubbings, Colts Phelans (Maryborough District)

One of four players in the Maryborough District competition to take nine wickets this season.

Jake Sutherland, Eastern Hill (Seymour)

Sutherland has taken 11 wickets in three games to lead the competition. This included a six wicket haul in the first round of the competition when the season started on November 26.

Cameron Taylor, Strathdale Maristians (Bendigo)

Taylor is one of three bowlers to take 13 wickets in the Bendigo competition so far this season. The most of all the bowlers.

Alastair Templeton, West Warrnambool (Warrnambool and District)

Averages almost 100 with the bat this season. Templeton has scored 289 runs and has a highest score of 102.

Shacaya Thomas, Gol Gol (Sunraysia)

One of only five players in the competition to make a century this season. Thomas has scored 391 runs at an average of 65.17. The all-rounder also leads the bowlers with 19 wickets. His best figures are 4/14.

Bayley Thompson, Heytesbury Rebels (South West)

Thompson has 11 wickets this season, tied with another player for the most in the competition this season.

Bradley Todd, Deniliquin Roos (Murray Valley)

The top order batsmen has made 392 runs this season to lead all comers. Todd has scored one century, 173, which was the highest score in the competition so far this season.

Myles Wade, Rochester (Goulburn Murray)

Has taken 11 wickets in the Goulburn Murray competition to be among the leading wickettakers this year.

In five of the seven matches Walsh has played this season, he’s scored at least 50. Walsh is by far the best runscorer this year, sitting more than 60 runs clear after scoring 381 this season. Walsh averages 76.20. His teammate, Anthony Brolic, is currently second with more than 300 runs and has not been out all season so far.

Jason Williams, Pakenham (Casey Cardinia)

The spinner has taken 19 wickets this season, including one five wicket haul. He leads the competition by one wickets and has taken his wickets at an average of 15.79

Tim Wightman, Nerrena (Leongatha)

The leg spin bowler leads the competition with 16 wickets. He has taken two five wicket hauls this season and has an average of 12.

Cameron Wheeler, Upwey-Tecoma (Ferntree Gully)

The fast bowler leads the competition by one wicket after taking 13 wickets so far this season. Wheeler is averaging 13.77 with the ball and has the best figure of 4/29 this season.

Harrison Wood, Grampians (Hamilton)

A dominant bowler this season, Wood has taken 16 wickets, six more than the rest of the competition, in just five matches. His best figures have been 5/53.
